Sausal Creek Has Friends
In the midst of the urban space we call Oakland, runs a creek that covers over 2600 acres, emerging from the Oakland Hills and meandering through the city. About 80,000 folks live in the Sausal Creek Watershed area along with a myriad of birds, animals and plants. There are believed to be over 250 plant, and almost 80 bird, species inhabiting this territory.
The Friends of Sausal Creek (FOSC), formed in 1996, is a group of neighbors who volunteer to clean up and protect the creek. Their next meeting is on November 14th which will include a bird walk along the restored areas of the creek. Visit the FOSC web site for more information.
